Understanding the Different Types of Braces

There are different types of braces to treat different types of injuries. In many cases, certain injuries may limit your mobility or ability to perform. It can be very challenging to deal with these injuries, especially without a brace. Braces help to support the area of your body that is injured, helping it heal and improving your mobility.

Let’s go over some of the different types of braces and how they help different areas of the body.

Shoulder Braces

A shoulder brace is for individuals suffering from shoulder injuries, aches, and pains. They provide support to the injured area so the ligaments, bones, and muscles can heal properly.

Back Braces

If you are suffering from a back injury, then chances are you will need a brace. Your spine needs to be properly aligned in order for your back to heal properly. You can consult with a professional to get a custom back brace that is comfortable and provides the right support to your back.

Elbow Braces

An elbow brace can come in the form of pads or mechanical braces. Typically, elbow braces are for sprains or for those who suffer from tendonitis. A brace can help support your elbow and give you the mobility you need to perform daily tasks.

Ankle Braces

Ankles tend to be more susceptible to damage and weakness. And, ankle injuries are not uncommon. A brace can help ease the pressure on your ankle joints and support it when it is being overworked. The brace will vary depending on your injury and what you will need it for.

Knee Braces

These braces are one of the most popular of all. Knee injuries can drastically affect your mobility and can prevent you from doing your every day tasks. Braces help to keep your knee cap in place and will help any surrounding muscles, joints, or ligaments heal in the mean time.
